Dear Triathletes & Duathletes,

Hi Adult Triathletes and Duathlon Participants,
(Don’t worry Kids - we have a special email just for you coming soon)

It is race week in Greenville and we know you are excited! It looks like we are going to have an ideal day to TRI. Baldwin Lake is comfortable for the swim; the roads are in good shape for the bike and the run course will be blazing fast. We have a team of exceptional volunteers and area residents here to assist and cheer you on too. We can hardly wait!

Get plenty of sleep, eat right and stay hydrated in the days leading up the race. As you do that, here are some important things to remember:

  • Packet pick up is on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the upper level of the Greenville Area Community Center, 900 E. Kent Road, Greenville, MI, 48838.
  • If you can’t get here on Friday, you can pick up your packet on Saturday morning at the Baldwin Lake Beach near transition. Give yourself extra time, there may be a back up.
  • If you registered prior to midnight, May 14th, you will be guaranteed your the shirt size you ordered. Registrations received after May 14th will receive shirts on a first-come, first serve basis.
  • Your timing chip will be available at packet pick up; you must wear it on your ankle for the entire race to time you correctly.
  • Make sure that you have everything you need to race with you on Saturday. You can use this checklist to help.
  • Transition will open at 6:00 a.m., not before, and will close at 7:45 a.m., so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get here on Saturday morning. In an effort to keep the transition area clear, adult athletes are not permitted to exit the transition area until 10:30am, no exceptions. Click here for a sneak peak of the Event Day Schedule.
  • Athlete Parking is at South and Marvel Streets near 925 South St. From M-57, turn south on Baldwin St. and go south 3 blocks to High Street. Turn right on high Street and go west 3 blocks to Marvel, then turn left; go one block to the parking area. Absolutely no parking will be permitted on South Street. You can click here for maps, directions and more parking information to the parking areas. It is approximately 1/3 of a mile walk/ride to the transition. Please be considerate of the neighborhood as you come in and keep noise to a minimum.
  • Spectator parking is located near the intersection of Maplewood and Meijer Dr., to the south and east of Meijer. Volunteers will be present to direct you to the on-street parking and to help you make your way to the Beach.
  • I would suggest bringing binoculars, sun screen and insect repellent.
  • Be sure to read thru the rules ahead of time; each local event has their own expectations. We don't want you to have any surprises on race day.
  • If you haven’t looked at the course maps, it will help to know what to expect so make sure you take a look. They will be posted behind the “Welcome to Baldwin Lake” sign near the Volunteer Tent as well.
  • Much of the bike course is open to traffic, unless otherwise specified in the rules, always obey the rules of the road, listen to the volunteers and pay attention to the road conditions.
  • If you happen to lose your timing chip during the race, inform the Timing Representative as you come in to transition and they can quickly provide you with a replacement chip for the remainder of the event.
  • The Awards Ceremony will take place at 10:30am, immediately following the adult races. We encourage you stick around to congratulate our top finishers.
  • You can view live results of the race by bib number on your mobile device at http://m.racetecresults.com/Search.aspx?R=2353
  • Printed race results will be available at the Chemical Bank Tent located on the beach as they become available following your race. Final results will be posted on our website as they are finalized.
  • Have you opted in to receive Tri Greenville TEXT messages on race day? You can do so by texting ‘gpnr23’ to 55678. Don’t worry, we won’t blow up your phone – we only plan to use it for important reminders, weather notices or emergencies, but let’s hope those wont be necessary! We already sent a text on May 25th; if you didn't receive that text you are not opted in!
  • 5-Year Recognition awards are being given to all athletes who have competed in the Tri Greenville since 2013. (If you were on a My Team Triumph team one of the years, that counts!) The 5-Year Recognition Pin should be in your race packet at packet pick up. We have done our best to collect accurate records but we occasionally do make mistakes. If you do not receive the pin and believe you are eligible, please visit the awards table on race day and we will certainly make it right!
  • Can’t wait until you pick up your race bag - click here to download the complete Arrowswift Printing & Office Supply—2017 Official Tri Greenville Triathlon Race Guide
  • Last and certainly not least, HAVE FUN!

I hope this information helps you with your triathlon preparations. If you have registered late, I encourage you to visit our website and read our previous e-newsletters to ensure you have all of the same information as our early registrants. If you have any questions or concerns leading to the race, feel free to call the Greenville Recreation Department at 616.754.8887. Don't forget, rest and hydrate! We can’t wait to see you on Saturday!
